چکیده
In order to enhance the research atmosphere and share research ideas among its postgraduate students, the Department of Computer Science starts to hold the HKBU-CSD Postgraduate Research Symposium (PG Day) from Spring 2005. The PG Day will be held biannually in the months of January and July each year. In this event, each postgraduate student will submit a technical paper and present his/her latest research results. The event provides an excellent opportunity for the students to share and exchange research ideas and experiences. Following the big success of the first Postgraduate Day in January, the second will be held on July 4, 2005. It features an invited talk by Dr. Charles Ling on how to write and publish research papers. The main program contains three sessions of presentations from the PhD and MPhil students. It covers the following research topics: Mobile Positioning Systems Wireless Data Broadcast Sensor Data Management Mesh Authentication Data Mining Web Intelligence Knowledge Grids Pattern Recognition Report Cover Designer: So Kin Ming

Proceedings of the First HKBU - CSD Postgraduate Research Symposium ( PG Day )
In this paper, we show our current work on our Non Self Organizing Multi Agent System (NonSOMAS) and Self Organizing Multi Agent System (SOMAS). Through experiments and analysis, we investigate how Self-Organized Criticality (SOC) phenomena arise in SOMAS rather than in NonSOMAS. Furthermore, we compare the order of agent performance in the two systems and explain its implications.

Low calorie diets are always difficult for obese subjects to follow and lead to metabolic and behavioral adaptation. Therefore, we evaluated the effect of caffeine treatment with calorie shifting diet (CSD) on weight loss. Female subjects (n=98; BMI≥25) completed 4-weeks control diet, 6-weeks CSD (3 repeated phases; each 2-weeks) and 4-weeks follow-up diet, with or without caffeine treatment (5...

متن کاملThe Relationship between the Postgraduate Research Climate and Supervisor Research Service Quality
This paper reports the results of the empirical evaluation of a theoretical model developed through an in-depth review of relevant literature which culminated in postulating that if postgraduate (PG) students are clear about their role as co-creators of the PG service and, if the research climate (OC) is supportive of research, then this will impact on their perception of PG service quality del...
