Proceedings of the Second HKBU - CSD Postgraduate Research Symposium ( PG Day )

چکیده

In order to enhance the research atmosphere and share research ideas among its postgraduate students, the Department of Computer Science starts to hold the HKBU-CSD Postgraduate Research Symposium (PG Day) from Spring 2005. The PG Day will be held biannually in the months of January and July each year. In this event, each postgraduate student will submit a technical paper and present his/her latest research results. The event provides an excellent opportunity for the students to share and exchange research ideas and experiences. Following the big success of the first Postgraduate Day in January, the second will be held on July 4, 2005. It features an invited talk by Dr. Charles Ling on how to write and publish research papers. The main program contains three sessions of presentations from the PhD and MPhil students. It covers the following research topics: Mobile Positioning Systems Wireless Data Broadcast Sensor Data Management Mesh Authentication Data Mining Web Intelligence Knowledge Grids Pattern Recognition Report Cover Designer: So Kin Ming

In this paper, we show our current work on our Non Self Organizing Multi Agent System (NonSOMAS) and Self Organizing Multi Agent System (SOMAS). Through experiments and analysis, we investigate how Self-Organized Criticality (SOC) phenomena arise in SOMAS rather than in NonSOMAS. Furthermore, we compare the order of agent performance in the two systems and explain its implications.
